Charlotte Jendresen

Senior Scientist, Biology Lead at Muna Therapeutics

Charlotte Jendresen has a diverse work experience in the field of biology and neuroscience. Charlotte is currently working as a Senior Scientist and Biology Lead at Muna Therapeutics since October 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Orphazyme A/S as a Senior Scientist from June 2018 to October 2021, where they focused on drug discovery for neurodegenerative diseases and cellular clearance mechanisms.

From September 2017 to June 2018, Charlotte worked as a Postdoc at Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, conducting research on diabetes and obesity with a focus on Adamts9. During their time there, they performed in vivo experiments, including oral glucose tolerance tests and insulin tolerance tests, as well as ex vivo experimentation using fluorescence western blots.

Before that, Charlotte worked as a PhD student at the University of Oslo from September 2012 to June 2017, specializing in Alzheimer's disease research. Charlotte'sPhD thesis focused on Amyloid-beta aggregation and clearance and explored the roles of heparan sulfate proteoglycans, Apolipoprotein E, and TREM2. Charlotte utilized various techniques such as immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, microscopy, and phagocytosis assays.

Earlier in their career, Charlotte worked as a Scientific Communicator at Experimentarium from October 2004 to June 2011, where they presented science exhibitions and shows. Charlotte also worked as a Master student at the University of Copenhagen and Copenhagen University Hospital, conducting research on cerebral malaria and CNS demyelination.

Overall, Charlotte Jendresen has extensive experience in research, drug discovery, and scientific communication, with a focus on neurodegenerative diseases, diabetes, obesity, Alzheimer's disease, and cerebral malaria.

Charlotte Jendresen attended Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen from 2004 to 2008, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology-Biotechnology. In 2007, they participated in a study abroad program at The University of Auckland. Charlotte then pursued a Master of Science degree in Human biology at Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen from 2008 to 2011.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Charlotte obtained certifications in Laboratory Animal Sciences and Isotope Methodology and Radiation Protection in November 2008 and April 2006, respectively.

After completing their MSc, they enrolled in a 6-week course, 10 ECTS, in Journalism at the Danish School of Media and Journalism in 2011. Prior to their university education, Charlotte attended Ordrup Gymnasium and obtained a high school diploma in 2004.
