Melanie Young

Melanie Young, GPHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP has extensive experience in global human resources and leadership roles. Melanie currently holds the position of Vice President/Global Head of Human Resources-CHRO at NanoString Technologies, Inc. Prior to this, they worked as an independent consultant and leadership coach for various non-profit organizations. Melanie also served as a founding member and project leader at Echo Compassion, a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization.

Earlier in their career, Melanie held leadership positions at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where they served as Vice President, Global Human Resources for the Clinical Diagnostics division. Before that, they were the Worldwide Business/Head of HR for the BD Biosciences Division at Becton, Dickinson and Co. (BD). Melanie also held executive positions at Arrow Electronics, where they served as Vice President of Global Human Resources for Corporate/Global Groups and Vice President of Asia Pacific Human Resources and Corporate Division.

Melanie's career began at NCR Corporation, where they held various HR management roles in locations such as San Diego, Dayton, Tokyo, and Singapore. Melanie also served as a Manager of Benefits for the US region at NCR.

In addition to their corporate roles, Melanie has served as a Board Member for the HR Certification Institute and the SHRM Global Forum. Melanie is recognized for their expertise in human resources and has obtained certifications such as GPHR, SPHR, and SHRM-SCP.

Melanie Young holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Business Administration with a focus on Finance & Marketing from the University of California, Berkeley. Melanie has obtained several certifications throughout their career, including the Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR) from the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) in 2003, the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) in 2012, and the SHRM - Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in 2015.
