Steven Cornford

Principal Engineer at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory

Steven Cornford has a diverse work experience, with a significant portion of their career spent at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Steven started in 1992 as a Group Supervisor in Reliability Engineering, where they created and managed an R&D group that focused on testing and evaluating spacecraft and sub-components. From 1998 to 2000, they served as an Instrument System Engineer. In 2000, they became the Testbed Manager and held that position until 2002 when they transitioned to become the Risk Modeling Lead. From 2002 to 2006, they worked in this role. From 2006 to 2019, they held the position of Senior Engineer, and later became a Principal Engineer in April 2019. Steven also had a role as a Program Manager from 1992 to 2001, during which they managed various programs. In addition, they served as the Principal Investigator from 2011 to 2015, overseeing the design and delivery of a software tool for DARPA's System F6 Program. Currently, Steven Cornford holds a position at Streetscope, Inc. as a Risk and Safety Modeling professional, starting in 2019.

Steven Cornford earned their B.S. in Physics and Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley from 1979 to 1984. Steven then pursued further education and received an M.S. in General Relativity and Twistors from Texas A&M University from 1984 to 1987. Finally, they completed their education with a Ph.D. in Physics from Texas A&M University from 1987 to 1992.
