Megan Moriarty

Megan Moriarty has extensive experience in communications and public relations. Megan is currently working as a Communications Manager at the National Audubon Society, where they create and implements communications strategies to protect birds and their habitats. Megan develops materials for press and the public, responds to media inquiries, and cultivates relationships with journalists.

Before their current role, Megan worked at the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation as a Press Officer. In this position, they coordinated media relations strategies, wrote and edited press releases and other public-facing materials, and managed internal communications.

Prior to that, Megan served as the Communications & Programs Coordinator for Freshkills Park at the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation. Megan wrote content for the park's website, social media, and email marketing, and collaborated with research, programming, and development staff to enhance communication strategies. Additionally, Megan organized and oversaw various park programs and events.

Megan gained experience in journalism as a Reporter & Host at Allegheny Mountain Radio, where they wrote, edited, and produced radio stories for local broadcast and digital publication. Megan also programmed and hosted live radio programs.

Megan has also worked as a Writing Instructor at New River Community and Technical College and as an AmeriCorps VISTA at the High Rocks Educational Corporation, where they provided administrative support, wrote articles and press releases, and served as a grant writer and marketing coordinator.

Earlier in their career, Megan served as an AmeriCorps State and National member at the High Rocks Educational Corporation, teaching writing and serving as a grant writer and marketing coordinator.

Megan's educational background includes a position as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Virginia Tech, where they designed and taught undergraduate writing courses and provided tutoring services at the Writing Center. Megan also assisted with training and mentoring new graduate teaching assistants.

Megan Moriarty received a Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literature from City University of New York-College of Staten Island in 2008. Megan then pursued a Master's Degree in Creative Writing from Virginia Tech, which they completed in 2011. In addition, Megan obtained a Digital Marketing Certificate from Hunter College in December 2018. No further educational experiences are provided.
