Nicole Michel

Director, Quantitative Science at National Audubon Society

Nicole Michel has an extensive work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Nicole worked as the Director of Quantitative Science at the National Audubon Society starting in December 2015. Prior to that, they were a Postdoctoral Fellow and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Saskatchewan from January 2013 to November 2015. Nicole also served as a Teaching Assistant at Tulane University from August 2005 to May 2012, where they mentored and tutored students in various biology-related courses. Nicole also worked as a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Mentor at the Organization for Tropical Studies from June 2008 to August 2009.

Before these academic positions, Nicole had a diverse range of experiences. Nicole worked at SMP Data Systems as a Partner, Web Developer, and Consultant from August 2001 to August 2005. At the Institute for Bird Populations, they held the role of an Office and Field Biologist as well as a MAPSPROG Programmer from May 1997 to August 2005. Additionally, Nicole worked as a Field Biologist for numerous organizations from August 1996 to April 1997. Nicole started their professional career as an AmeriCorps Volunteer at the Northwest Service Academy from September 1995 to August 1996. Nicole also gained experience as a Teaching Assistant at Willamette University from September 1992 to May 1995.

Nicole Michel completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biology, General at Willamette University from 1991 to 1995. Afterward, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Tulane University, which they obtained between 2005 and 2012.
