Luke Miller

Director User Experience Design at National Geographic Society

Luke Miller has a diverse work experience in the field of user experience design and education. Luke started their career as a Research Assistant at UNC Chapel Hill School of Information & Library Science in 2008 and later worked as an Instructor at 3rd Ward, teaching information architecture. Luke then joined The Wall Street Journal as a Jr UX Architect and later became the Sr User Experience Architect and Mobile Lead. Luke also worked at Yahoo as a UX Researcher and Experience Designer, focusing on native mobile apps and conducting research for various platforms. Luke has also held positions at General Assemb.ly as a Lead UX Immersive Instructor and at National Geographic as a UX Design Director. Luke served as an Adjunct Professor at American University and Corcoran School of the Arts and Design at The George Washington University. Currently, Luke holds the position of Director User Experience Design at National Geographic Society and is also an UX Instructor at UCLA Extension.

Luke Miller has a strong educational background in library and information science. Luke obtained a Master of Library & Information Science (MLIS) degree with a focus on Human Computer Interaction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between 2008 and 2010. Additionally, during the same period, they also completed a Master of Science (MS) degree in Information Science from the same university.

Before pursuing their master's degrees, Luke Miller earned a Bachelor's degree in English Theory from the University of Florida from 2002 to 2006. Their studies at the University of Florida also included a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English Theory & Criticism during the same time frame.

In terms of additional certifications, Luke Miller completed a course on Leading Remote Teams from Cornell University in January 2023.
