Solomon Hsiang is a distinguished academic and researcher currently serving as a Professor at Stanford University since July 2024 and previously at UC Berkeley until June 2024. Hsiang also holds the position of Explorer at the National Geographic Society since December 2018 and has been a Faculty Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research since May 2013. Notably, Hsiang served as Chief Environmental Economist at The White House from April 2023 to April 2024. Hsiang completed a PhD in Sustainable Development at Columbia University (2006-2011) and earned dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Science and Urban Studies and Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2002-2006).
