Alix W.

Director, Health Policy at NHPCO

Alix W. has a diverse work experience with a focus on health policy and public health. They currently hold the position of Director of Health Policy at the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, where they previously served as the Manager of Health Policy. Prior to this, Alix worked as a Public Health Law & Policy Program Analyst at NACCHO, where they communicated and partnered with various stakeholders in the public health field. They also have experience as a Certified Legal Intern at the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund Name Change Project and as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Additionally, Alix has worked as a Fellow at PA Democrats and as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Public Health Training Center. They have also held positions as a Legal Fellow for both the U.S. Senate and the Center for Health and Gender Equity (CHANGE), where they provided support in various policy-related tasks. Earlier in their career, Alix worked as a Graduate Student Research Assistant at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health and held administrative and managerial roles at Heartland Dental.

Alix W. completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Community Health from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign between the years 2009 and 2013. Following this, they pursued higher education and obtained a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree, specializing in Health Law and Public Policy, from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law from 2015 to 2019. In addition to their law degree, Alix W. also earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Health Policy and Management from the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health from 2016 to 2019. Furthermore, they obtained two additional certifications: one in Bar Admission from The Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in October 2019, and another as Certified in Public Health from the National Board of Public Health Examiners (NBPHE) in April 2019.
