Matthew Garcia

Matthew Garcia serves as the Deputy Director of Officer Safety and Wellness Programs at the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund since April 2022, focusing on best practices and partnerships in officer safety and wellness. Previously, Matthew held a distinguished career with the Connecticut State Police from 2000 to 2022, culminating in the role of Lieutenant and Commanding Officer of the Statewide Narcotics Task Force, as well as a retired Lieutenant in the Bureau of Special Investigations. Matthew led high-stakes hostage and crisis negotiations as both a Sergeant and Team Leader. An educational background in Law Enforcement Science from the University of New Haven supports Matthew's extensive experience in law enforcement and crisis management.
