Jim Deery

Jim Deery has a diverse work experience in various prestigious organizations. Jim started their career in 1987 at the Irish Defense Forces, where they served in command and staff positions both in Ireland and overseas. Jim'sroles included Platoon Commander, Staff Officer, and Financial Analyst. Jim completed several leadership courses and training during their time there.

In 2004, Jim joined the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General in Ireland as a Senior Financial Analyst on secondment from the Defense Forces. Jim held this position until 2005.

From 2007 onwards, Jim worked at the National Treasury Management Agency. Jim held multiple roles, including Financial Analyst and Senior Manager, where they were responsible for corporate development initiatives and formulating strategies. Jim'smost recent position was as Head of Corporate Strategy.

Jim Deery has a diverse education history. In 1978, they attended Catholic University School, where they did not acquire a specific degree or field of study. At the University of Galway's J.E. Cairnes School of Business & Economics, Jim obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1996, specializing in Business/Commerce, General. In 2004, they enrolled at University College Dublin and completed a Masters in Business Administration program in 2006. Later, in 2016, Jim pursued a Master of Arts degree in Military History and Strategic Studies at Maynooth University. Jim successfully completed the program in 2018. Additionally, in 2016, they obtained a beginner-level Duolingo French Fluency certification from Duolingo. Currently, Jim Deery is working on a part-time Hume PhD Scholarship at Maynooth University's Faculty of History, focusing on Military History and Strategic Studies. This program started in 2018 and is expected to conclude in 2024.
