Jenna Lauter serves as Policy Counsel at the New York Civil Liberties Union since September 2021, following a role as an Equal Justice Works Fellow sponsored by Advance Publications and Ropes & Gray LLP. Previous legal experience includes positions as a Legal Intern in both the Policy Department at the New York Civil Liberties Union and the Democracy Program at the Brennan Center for Justice, as well as a Summer Law Clerk at Texas RioGrande Legal Aid and a Public Defense Intern at Mecklenburg Defenders. Jenna's early career involved roles such as Senior Associate at Kasirer LLC and New York Deputy Organizing Director for Hillary for America, alongside work as a Special Assistant for State Operations in the Office of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo. Academic credentials include a Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Human Rights from Barnard College, complemented by studies in Peace and Conflict Studies in Uganda and Rwanda.
