Leann Best

Leann Best has a diverse work experience in the financial industry. Leann started their career as a Mortgage Operations Manager at Mortgage First from 1999 to 2009. Leann then joined First Citizens Bank & Trust as a Mortgage Loan Processing & Underwriting Manager, where they received the Operations Associate of the Year Award. Leann worked there from 2010 to 2011. After that, they joined BB&T Branch Banking & Trust as the Operational Risk & Controls Manager for Mortgage Loan Administration. During their time there, they were responsible for designing risk testing objectives, monitoring open audit findings, and presenting to the Executive Leadership Risk Committee. Leann also mentored junior staff and was part of the BB&T Protégé/Mentoring Program. In 2016, Leann joined Newrez LLC as the Director of Internal Audit and is currently the Head of Servicing Compliance.

Leann Best obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management & Accounting from Virginia Wesleyan College between 1998 and 2002. Leann also holds a certification as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) from The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc., which they obtained in December 2021.
