Emily Scarvie has a diverse range of work experience in the field of journalism and media production. Emily is currently working as a Content Specialist at NewsBreak since March 2021. Prior to this, Emily worked as a Staff Writer for Flux Magazine from January 2020 to June 2020, where they wrote feature-length articles, copy edited colleagues' work, and managed schedules for story projects. Emily also gained experience as an Editorial Intern at Columbus Travel Media Ltd from September 2019 to December 2019, where they organized and updated destination guides, created internal directories, and copy edited travel guides. Emily's previous role as a Staff Writer for OR Magazine from April 2019 to June 2019 involved writing feature-length pieces, conducting interviews, and traveling to gather visuals for articles. Emily also worked as a Production Assistant for Allen Hall Media from June 2018 to June 2019, where they operated sound and lighting equipment, collaborated on promotional videos, and represented the agency in client meetings. Additionally, Emily worked as a Reporting Intern for GN Media - Today Newspaper from June 2018 to August 2018, reporting on events, copy editing, and curating the international news section. Finally, they gained production experience as a Production Assistant for Duck TV from September 2017 to December 2017, where they operated sound equipment, kept shot lists organized, and assisted with on-set tasks.

Emily Scarvie attended the University of Oregon from 2016 to 2020, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. Emily obtained this degree from both the University of Oregon and the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication. In October 2020, Emily also received a certification in "Create a Social Media Marketing Campaign" from the University of Leeds and Institute of Coding.
