From 2009 to 2017, Kimmi Ko pursued their Masters in Philosophy in Design at UNSW. Kimmi then transferred to the University of Sydney in 2018 to continue their studies towards a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Design Innovation. Kimmi completed their PhD at the University of Sydney in 2020.

After completing their doctorate at the University of Sydney, Kimmi Ko furthered their education at The University of Queensland. From 2021 to 2022, they pursued another Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Design Innovation at this university.
