Chaya Stern

Senior Principal Scientist at Odyssey Therapeutics

Chaya Stern has a strong background in computational and systems biology, with a focus on drug discovery. Chaya started their work experience in 2010 with Weill Cornell Medicine, where they conducted research on the mechanism of resistance in malaria parasites. Chaya then pursued a PhD in Chemical Biology at the Tri-Institutional PhD Program in Chemical Biology (TPCB) from 2013 to 2020. During their PhD, they also worked as an Undergraduate Student Researcher at Brooklyn College, investigating theoretical models of confined electrolytes.

After completing their PhD, Chaya joined Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center as a PhD candidate in the Computational and Systems Biology Program. Here, they used Bayesian inference to improve molecular models used in drug discovery, focusing on automating the generation of relevant quantum mechanical data and fitting free parameters using probabilistic programming languages.

In 2020, Chaya joined DeepCure as a Computational Chemist, and later became a Senior Scientist in Computational Chemistry. At DeepCure, they continued to apply their expertise in computational chemistry, working on projects related to drug discovery.

Most recently, in 2022, Chaya joined Odyssey Therapeutics as a Senior Principal Scientist. Chaya'srole at Odyssey Therapeutics involves utilizing their extensive experience to contribute to the advancement of scientific research and innovation in the field of therapeutic development.

Chaya Stern obtained their educational degrees in a chronological order. Chaya started with an Associate of Arts (A.A.) in Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts from Touro University, which they completed between 2009 and 2011. Following this, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Chemistry from Brooklyn College, which they completed between 2011 and 2013. Chaya Stern then went on to earn their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemical biology from the Joan & Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University through the Tri-Institutional PhD Program in Chemical Biology (TPCB), completing this between 2013 and 2020.
