Matthew Wrather has held a variety of roles in the technology industry since 2005. In 2010, they began as a Graduate Student Instructor at UCLA, teaching courses such as Literature and Composition, Introductory Acting, Acting for Film, and Voice and Speech. In 2013, they became a Lead Software Engineer at Participant Media, providing subject-matter expertise and leading front-end and back-end engineering efforts for the launch of Pivot.tv and the redesign of the activist-focused news site takepart.com. In 2014, they were a Front End Architect at Prometheus Global Media. In 2017, they became Vice President of Technology at goop.com. In 2019, they were Vice President of Engineering at Boulevard, a vertical SaaS start-up. In 2020, they were a Technical Manager at Bird, managing the Rider team. Currently, they are the VP of Engineering at OfColor.

Matthew Wrather completed their education history with a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, which they obtained between 2009 and 2012. Prior to that, they attended Yale University, where they earned a Bachelor's degree between 1998 and 2002. Matthew's educational journey began at the Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences, which they attended from 1994 to 1998.
