Principal, Credit & Counterparty Risk at Ontario Teachers'​ Pension Plan

Neil Carey, CFA, P.Eng., MBA has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Neil started their career at ABC Group in 2000 as a Project Engineer, where they worked for approximately three years. In 2003, they transitioned to General Motors of Canada as a Design Engineer. During their time there, they were responsible for the design and performance of the transmission shift system on multiple vehicle programs, and also handled technical specifications, supply chain management, and conducted business case analysis. Neil worked at General Motors for five years before joining TD Securities in 2008. At TD Securities, Neil held two roles - first as an Associate in Global Business Services for a year, and then as an Associate in Global Counterparty Credit for six years. In 2016, they moved to Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan where they started as a Manager in the Credit & Counterparty Risk department. After one year, they were promoted to the position of Principal in the same department, where they currently work.

Neil Carey, CFA, P.Eng., MBA, obtained their Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Queens University in 2000. Neil then pursued further education and obtained an MBA with a focus in Finance from Wilfrid Laurier University between 2005 and 2008. Additionally, Neil obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder certification from the CFA Institute in March 2012. Neil is also a Professional Engineer (PE) with accreditation from Professional Engineers Ontario, although the specific month and year of their PE certification are unknown.
