Rachel Roumeliotis began their work experience in 1999 as a Rights and Permissions Analyst at Booktech. In 2005, they joined Morgan Kaufmann as an Assistant Editor and progressed to roles such as Associate Acquisitions Editor, Acquisitions Editor, and eventually Senior Acquisitions Editor, specializing in UX/HCI/AI. In 2011, they transitioned to O'Reilly Media as an Editor and later held positions such as Senior Editor, Senior Supervising Editor, and Strategic Content Director. From 2014 to 2020, they served as Program Chair for various conferences, including OSCON, Strata Data, O'Reilly Security, Fluent, and Software Architecture. In 2017, they became the Vice President of Content Strategy at O'Reilly Media.

Rachel Roumeliotis obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in English/Drama from New York University in the years 1994 to 1998.
