Bruce Gerhardson has over 20 years of work experience in regulatory affairs, compliance, and legal counsel. Bruce began their career in 1995 at Svingen, Karkela, Cline, Haugrud, Hunt, Larson & Jensen, PLLP, where they worked as a Partner focusing on business, public utility, and agricultural practice. In 2000, they joined Otter Tail Corporation as an Associate General Counsel, providing legal advice and representation in matters of public utility regulation. At Otter Tail Power Company, they held various leadership positions, including Director of Regulatory Affairs and Compliance and Vice President of Regulatory Affairs. In these roles, Bruce was responsible for regulatory policy, strategy, and advocacy, as well as ensuring state and federal compliance. Bruce also led market planning and strategic planning initiatives. Overall, Bruce Gerhardson has demonstrated expertise in regulatory affairs, compliance, and legal counsel throughout their career.

Bruce Gerhardson has a comprehensive education history spanning several institutions. Bruce began their academic journey by earning a Diploma from Fergus Falls High School in 1982. Following this, they attended Staples Area Vocational Technical Institute in 1982-1983 to study Electronics/Photography.

Building on their previous education, Gerhardson pursued an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in Liberal Arts from Minnesota State Community and Technical College from 1983 to 1985. Recognizing their passion for written communication, they then attended St. Olaf College from 1986 to 1988 and obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree with Cum Laude honors in English.

Continuing their pursuit of knowledge, Gerhardson engaged in graduate work at the University of Minnesota Duluth from 1990 to 1992, focusing on English Literature and Writing. During this period, they showcased their dedication to the field of law by concurrently attending the University of Minnesota Law School from 1992 to 1995. Here, they earned their Juris Doctor (JD) degree with Cum Laude distinction.

Beyond their formal education, Gerhardson holds several law licenses. The first was obtained from the Minnesota Supreme Court in 1995, followed by a law license from the North Dakota Supreme Court in 1997. More recently, in 2005, they acquired a law license from the South Dakota Supreme Court.
