Samuel Confederat began their work experience as an intern at TI-COAST in 2014. Samuel then worked as a trainee at Unilever R&D from 2015 to 2016. In 2016, they served as a graduate intern at RIKILT Wageningen UR. Following this, Samuel worked as an MSc thesis student at Wageningen University & Research from 2017 to 2018. In 2018, they became an MSc intern at EPFL. From 2019 to 2023, they pursued a Marie Curie PhD at the University of Leeds, focusing on the development of nanopore electrochemical sensors. Currently, Samuel is a research scientist at Oxford Nanopore Technologies, specializing in Lab-on-a-Chip technology.
Samuel Confederat has a diverse education history. Samuel began their undergraduate studies in 2012 at HZ University of Applied Sciences, where they pursued a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Chemistry. During this time, they participated in the COAST Analytical Sciences Talent Programme, focusing on analytical chemistry. In 2015, Samuel pursued a Biotechnology Minor at Wageningen University & Research.
After completing their Bachelor's degree, Samuel went on to pursue a Master of Science (MSc) in Molecular Life Sciences with a specialization in Physical Chemistry at Wageningen University & Research. Samuel completed this program in 2018. Samuel also participated in the COAST MSc+ Topsector Scholarship Programme during their master's studies, focusing on Analytical Chemistry.
In terms of certifications, Samuel obtained a Certificate in Advanced English C1 from the University of Cambridge in 2012. Samuel also obtained an Open Water Diver certification from SSI in June 2019.
