Nils Nieuwejaar

Nils Nieuwejaar has extensive experience in engineering and software development, having worked for various companies over the years. Nils worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Thinking Machines in 1996 and later as a Senior Staff Engineer at Sun Microsystems from 1996 to 2007. At Sun Microsystems, Nieuwejaar led a project to build a virtualized Linux application environment and worked on porting Solaris to the Xen virtualization platform. Nieuwejaar was a Consulting Engineer at Virtual Computer Inc. from 2008 to 2010, where they provided virtualization services to manage mobile and distributed computers on enterprise networks. Nils later became a Kernel Engineer at Apple Inc. in 2010 and a Senior Consulting Software Engineer at DSSD/EMC/Dell from 2011 to 2017. At DSSD/EMC/Dell, they designed, implemented, and maintained the D5's flash translation layer, cluster failover and failback, data integrity across power failure and full cluster crashes, and scalable KV implementation. In 2017, Nieuwejaar joined Brightgate Inc. as a Principal Engineer responsible for developing security-aware network services and automating network management. Nils left Brightgate Inc. in 2020 and joined Oxide Computer Company as an Engineer.

Nils Nieuwejaar received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science and Philosophy from Bowdoin College in 1992. Nils then went on to attend Dartmouth College, where they received their PhD in Computer Science in 1996. There is no information regarding any additional certifications they may have obtained.
