Jay Smestad

Jay Smestad has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. Jay started their career as a Unix Consultant at BATS in 1990 and later worked as a Consultant at A&A Printing in 1992. In 1997, Jay joined Celera Genomics as an IS Manager and then moved on to become an IT Manager at both Celera Genomics - AgGen and Applied Biosystems. Starting from 1998, they worked at Adobe as a Design Services Manager until 2009. In 2009, Jay founded E*Testment, LLC/SCT and served as Founder/CTO. Jay later worked as a Systems Design Analyst and Senior Application Domain Architect at Network Appliance from 2009 to 2013. Jay then joined Personalis as an HPC Architect for a brief period in 2013 before assuming the role of Senior Director of Information Technology at Pacific Biosciences in 2015.

Jay Smestad has a Bachelor of Science degree in Management of Information Services from San Jose State University. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in Unconscious Bias and Managing in Difficult Times from LinkedIn in the year 2020.
