Rufus Smith has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations. Rufus began their career in 2005 with the Ohio National Guard, where they held the positions of Director of Operations, Training and Exercises from December 2005 to September 2006, and Brigade Commander from October 2006 to October 2012. In 2013, they served as the Director of the National Center for Medical Readiness until May 2015. From August 2015 to November 2019, Rufus worked as the Director of Operational Support and Share Services at Wright State University. Currently, they are employed at Parallax Advanced Research, where they are the Deputy Director of APEX - Academic Partnership Engagement Experiment since July 2020. Additionally, Rufus holds the role of Parallax Advanced Research Ethics Officer since January 2023. Their work at Parallax involves tackling global challenges by accelerating innovation through strategic partnerships with various entities.
Rufus Smith obtained a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Business from Marietta College, where they studied from 1982 to 1985. Rufus later pursued a Master's degree in Administration at Central Michigan University, completing their studies from 1996 to 1998.
