Nelson Pray began their work experience as a Produce Manager/Perishable Manager at BJ's Wholesale Club in January 1994. Their responsibilities included ordering produce, stocking freezer and dairy, scheduling for bakery, managing quality assurance and waste reports, and overseeing labor reports. Nelson was also certified in forklift operation. Nelson then joined Bates College in October 1998, where they had multiple roles over the years, including Board Plan Manager, Assistant Director of Dining Services, and Assistant Director of Conferences and Campus Events. Their tenure at Bates College lasted until September 2019. In October 2019, they joined Parkhurst Dining as the Director of Retail Operations.
Nelson Pray completed their high school education from Lewiston High School, where they attended from 1986 to 1990. Nelson did not receive a degree or specify a field of study during this time.
Later, they pursued higher education and obtained an Associate's degree in Business Administration and Management, General from Central Maine Community College. Nelson enrolled there in 2012 and completed their degree program in 2019.
Additionally, Nelson has acquired certifications to enhance their professional skills. In November 2018, they became certified as a ServSafe Food Protection Manager Instructor through ServSafe. In September 2018, they also obtained the Genie Lift Pro certification from W.D. Matthews Machinery.
