Benjamin Stepanian

Mechanical Engineer at Plug Power

Benjamin Stepanian has a diverse work experience in the field of mechanical engineering. Benjamin started their career at Cubist Engineering in 2017 as a Project Intern, where they were involved in designing and fabricating custom tiny homes, pools, and beach facilities. Benjamin also converted a shipping container into a swimming pool and performed various tasks such as carpentry, welding, metalwork, and electrical work.

In 2020, Stepanian joined EETech Media as an Engineering Writer. In this role, they researched and communicated new advancements in electrical engineering technology, specifically focusing on additive manufacturing. Benjamin published over 40 articles on Control.com and also wrote profiles on additive manufacturing.

Later in 2020, Stepanian joined United Aircraft Technologies, Inc. as a Mechanical Engineer. Here, they played a key role in designing and developing novel aerospace wire harness fastening technology. Benjamin also developed aircraft-specific calculations to determine wire harness dynamic loading based on flight style, capable G-Force endurance, wire mass, wire capacity, and assembly configuration. Additionally, they synthesized snap-fit designs based on the required loading parameters.

Currently, Stepanian is working at Plug Power as a Mechanical Engineer. Benjamin is a subject matter expert in cell voltage pick-ups for all liquid-cooled fuel cell stack products. Benjamin is part of a cross-functional team responsible for fuel cell stack optimization, where they implement data-driven changes to improve efficiency, performance, and manufacturability.

Throughout their career, Stepanian has demonstrated strong technical skills in mechanical engineering, project management, research, and writing.

Benjamin Stepanian attended Alfred State College - SUNY College of Technology from 2016 to 2020, where they earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology with a focus on Engineering. In addition to their formal education, they obtained several certifications from LinkedIn. In October 2022, they completed certifications in "Fred Kofman on Accountability" and "Fred Kofman on Making Commitments." In August 2023, they obtained certifications in "How to Learn Faster," "Nano Tips to Enhance Your Communication with Shadé Zahrai," and "Speaking Confidently and Effectively." Lastly, in October 2022, they obtained a certification in "The Five Conversations That Deliver Accountability and Performance."
