Amgad Kamel

Amgad Kamel has had an extensive and diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Amgad began their career in 1988 at KPMG, where they worked for 14 years in various capacities, primarily focusing on providing IT management and strategy advice to clients in the financial sector. During this time, they also led the implementation of IT Risk Management Benchmarking globally.

After leaving KPMG, Kamel worked as a Group IT Internal Auditor at Alea Group – Global Insurance and Reinsurance. Here, they were responsible for setting up the department and developing IT Internal Audit methodologies.

Amgad then joined Citigroup, where they served as the Senior Vice President of Global Lead SOX404 and SAS70. In this role, they were responsible for compliance training, interfacing with regulatory agencies, and staying current on compliance issues.

Next, Kamel worked at Barclays Wealth as the Technology Governance & Control Team Lead. In this capacity, they led risk framework assessments and coordinated audit activity across technology departments.

Amgad then moved to Barclays Bank, where they served as the Regional Head of Information Risk Management and Business Continuity Management. Here, they built and maintained effective relationships with key stakeholders and developed the internal control capability.

Following their time at Barclays, Kamel worked at Al Hilal Bank as a Consultant. In this role, they focused on setting up an Information Management function, including initiatives related to data quality, data privacy, and business intelligence. Amgad also provided consulting to re-engineer and automate business processes.

Most recently, Kamel has been working at Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB). Amgad initially served as the Head of Operations and Internal Control Divisions before being promoted to the role of Assistant General Manager (AGM) and Head of the Business Transformation Division. In this position, they are responsible for improving bank processes, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness, and driving digitalization initiatives. Amgad also oversees the Internal Control Department and is involved in reviewing and improving critical bank processes and documenting business requirements for digital projects.

Amgad Kamel obtained a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Cairo University, which they attended from 1983 to 1987.
