qathet School District provides public education to 3,000+ students K-12 in the qathet Regional District on the traditional territory of the Tla’amin Nation. There are six elementary schools (Grades K-7), one secondary school (Grades 8-12), an alternate school and a Distributed Learning Program to support home-learning families called Partners in Education (PIE).

The qathet Region is a unique coastal community located 140 km north-west of Vancouver and within the heart of the Sunshine Coast.

The Education Team at qathet School District (SD47) is dedicated to providing comprehensive and inclusive education to over 3,000 K-12 students in the qathet Regional District. This diverse group of professionals includes teachers, education assistants, principals, and specialized coordinators who collaborate to create and implement varied educational programs. Their roles encompass traditional classroom teaching, special education, distributed learning through PIE, and unique initiatives like STEM, culinary arts, and outdoor learning, all aimed at meeting the diverse needs of their student body in alignment with the cultural values of the Tla’amin Nation.
