Vitor Melo

Vitor Melo is an Associate Economist at RAND since August 2025, with a rich background in academia and research. Prior to this role, Vitor served as a Graduate Lecturer and Graduate Research Assistant at Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business at Clemson University from August 2020 to August 2025. Vitor also held positions as a Senior Research Associate at the Knee Regulatory Research Center at West Virginia University and as a Fellow at the University of Chicago's Initiative on Enabling Choice and Competition in Healthcare. Additionally, Vitor was a Fellow for the Open Health Project at the Mercatus Center, focusing on healthcare policy issues. Prior experiences include research at the Independent Institute and teaching assistance roles at Gettysburg College, where Vitor supported students in Econometrics and Microeconomics. Vitor's educational credentials include a PhD and MS in Economics and Economic Analytics from Clemson University and a BA in Economics and Political Science from Gettysburg College.
