Jacob Gessel has a diverse work experience spanning different roles and industries. Jacob began their career in 2005 as a Supply Officer for the US Department of State, managing contracts, service agreements, and purchases. Jacob then worked as a Logistics Specialist for Kaseman, overseeing a procurement budget of $3.3 million.

In 2007, Jacob joined ManTech SMA as a Senior Contracts Administrator, managing government and private sector contracts. Jacob moved on to Hazard Management Solutions in 2008, serving as the Contracts Director and overseeing various departments, including Business Development, Proposal, and Pricing. During their time there, they managed contracts with US Federal Agencies, foreign governments, and corporations.

From 2009 to 2013, Jacob worked for the FBI as a Contracts Specialist, supporting the completion of contracts. In 2010, they also had a role as a Judicial Intern at the United States Court of Federal Claims.

In 2013, Jacob joined Ipsos as an Assistant General Counsel and served as the NA Chief Privacy Officer. Jacob was responsible for privacy and data security compliance in North America and internationally. Jacob also reviewed, drafted, and negotiated complex commercial agreements.

In 2021, Jacob joined Medallia as an Associate General Counsel and the Head of Privacy Americas. In this role, they led a team of attorneys, handled commercial agreements with enterprise customers, and streamlined business deal flows.

Most recently, Jacob is working at Redis as the Associate General Counsel and Global Head of Privacy and Product, starting in 2023. No end date is provided for this role.

Jacob Gessel attended Mountain View High School from 1998 to 2001, earning a diploma. Jacob then went on to study at Northern Virginia Community College from 2004 to 2005, where they obtained an associate degree in Business. Following that, they attended the University of Phoenix from 2006 to 2007, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Management. Jacob continued their education at the University of Phoenix from 2007 to 2008, obtaining a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on Business, Management, Marketing, and Related Support Services. Finally, Jacob attended The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law from 2009 to 2013, earning a Juris Doctor (JD) degree in Law. In addition to their educational background, they have obtained certifications as a Certified Information Privacy Professional - United States (CIPP/US) from the IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals in 2017, and again in 2023.
