Maurice Nelson

Vice President of Program Development at Rekor Recognition Systems

Maurice Nelson has served as Vice President of Program Development with efforts focused within our Government Relations sector since March 2019. Nelson joined Rekor in early 2010 as Managing Director, leading the charge of designing and developing Rekor’s traffic safety applications and service offerings. He has more than 24 years in both state, local, and private sector program implementation, automation, and development. As senior member of a Fortune 200 company integrator, he oversaw several major parking, motor vehicle administration, enforcement automation, and systems development integrations. He has implemented and managed one of the largest automated traffic enforcement programs (DC) in North America, grossing more than $100m per year, before moving on to assist with Maryland’s adoption of statewide legislation to expand Speed Monitoring Systems. He implemented, as a member of the Montgomery County (MD) Police Department, the State’s first School Speed Safety Programs. Nelson holds a bachelor’s degree in Counseling and a PMI from George Washington University and maintains numerous distinctions from his near quarter century of providing public safety services for law enforcement and the private sector.
