John Harkness, Ph.D.

John Harkness, Ph.D. has held a variety of roles throughout their career. From 1999 to 2006, they were a Climbing Instructor at Vertical World Inc. During this time, they were also a WWU Psychology Lab Technician and Husbandry, and an Undergraduate Neuroscience Research Technician at Western Washington University. In 2006, they began their Ph.D. Candidate role at Oregon Health and Science University, which they held until 2009. From 2015 to 2019, they worked at Washington State University as a Research Scientist, Adjunct Faculty, Entrepreneurial Faculty Ambassador, and Postdoctoral Researcher. In 2016, they joined Northwest Noggin as Vice President of the Board of Directors. In 2018, they became a Member of the Board of Directors at Science Talk. In 2019, they began their roles as President and CEO of Rewire Neuro, as well as Chief Science Officer of Health Technology Innovations. John also held a Postdoctoral Research Fellow role at Legacy Health in 2019.

John Harkness, Ph.D. began their educational journey in 1999 when they attended Bellevue High School. John then went on to earn a B.A. in Behavioral Neuroscience from Western Washington University in 2009. After that, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Behavioral Neuroscience, Behavioral Genetics from Oregon Health & Science University in 2015. Finally, they completed a Postdoctoral in Neuroscience from Washington State University in 2019.
