Margaret Phillips is an accomplished musician and educator with extensive experience in bassoon and contrabassoon performance and instruction. Currently serving as a Lecturer in Music at Boston University since September 2015, Phillips also holds the position of Instructor for Bassoon and Contrabassoon at The Boston Conservatory and has been an Associate Professor of Bassoon at Berklee College of Music since September 1998. Additionally, a member of several orchestras, including the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra and Music School as well as the Portland Symphony Orchestra since 1995, Phillips has performed as an extra/sub with the Boston Symphony Orchestra since 1993 and as a Bassoon/Contrabassoon player with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra since 1988. Prior experience includes serving as Principal Bassoon for Opera Boston until its closure in January 2012 and participating in the New Hampshire Music Festival from 1989 to 2012. Phillips holds a Master’s degree in Performance from Boston University and a Bachelor’s degree in Performance from the University of Michigan.
