Chuck Karvelas

Senior Director, Commercial Learning at Sage Therapeutics

Chuck Karvelas has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Chuck began their career at John G. Shedd Aquarium, where they worked as a Presentation Specialist for five years. In this role, they delivered aquatic science and conservation presentations, developed educational offerings, and coached staff on presentation skills.

In 2005, Chuck joined GSK as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative and later transitioned into roles such as Cardiovascular Sales Specialist and Scientific Knowledge Training Manager. As the latter, they designed, managed, and delivered scientific knowledge curriculum while leading projects aimed at improving capabilities deliverables.

Chuck continued their career at GSK, taking on responsibilities as a Commercial Capabilities Business Partner and a Commercial Capabilities Enterprise Skills Manager. Chuck also served as a District Sales Manager, overseeing a sales team.

In 2016, Chuck joined Shire as a Regional Sales Director, a role they held for two years before moving to Sage Therapeutics in 2018. At Sage Therapeutics, they initially served as an Associate Director of Commercial Training before becoming the Interim Director of Commercial Learning and Effectiveness.

Currently, Chuck holds the position of Senior Director of Commercial Learning at Sage Therapeutics, where they oversee the development and implementation of training programs.

Chuck Karvelas holds a Master's degree in Creative Arts from West Virginia University. Prior to that, they earned a BFA in Theatre from Salem State University.
