The Director, Sales Trainingis responsible for overseeing all commercial new hire training globally. This position leads the field team new hire training program end-to-end in close collaboration with sales leadership and field training personnel in the regions to ensure consistency of capabilities and clinical practice around the world.  This position will provide strategic leadership and on-going development to the field sales organization to maximize sales and clinical skills as well as execution of advanced training programs for clinical and sales representatives as well as leadership development programs. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee field team new hire training programs and on-boarding processes globally

  • Develop programs for all levels of the sales organization including new hire training to accelerate time to revenue-generation and manager training

  • Deploy best-in-class techniques to deliver training programs that are engaging, actionable, sticky, scalable, and results driven

  • Develop product messaging and competitive messaging in partnership with Marketing and Sales

  • Work with Global Sales Management to identify and prioritize training needs and continuously develop training programs and tools

  • Collaborate with Field Training, R&D, and Marketing to ensure integration with product / technical training

  • Work with Upstream Marketing and R&D to support commercial readiness for product launches

  • Collaborate with customers to ensure trainings reflect customer expectations and involve them where appropriate

  • Align with HR to evaluate competency levels and create training strategy to address critical gaps

  • Develop key performance indicators for sales training programs, track effectiveness, and demonstrate strong financial ROI

  • Provides leadership and vision on the strategic development, planning, implementation and assessment of comprehensive commercial training and development programs and resources.

  • Manages, develops, coaches, and supports a team of training and education professionals.

  • Proactively support company goals, objectives, policies and procedures, and performs in accordance with industry and government regulation guidelines (i.e., FDA, AdvaMed, etc.).

  • Leads efforts to interface proactively with cross-functional and global regional partners, including, marketing, clinical, regional managers, sales leadership, and sales staff, to determine education and training needs. Develops strong relationships that help facilitate meeting of goals.

  • Leads team efforts to establish regional training plans to ensure regional achievement of measures / certifications. Prioritization, design and development of programs to meet outcomes of regional training plans.

  • Provides strategic leadership in the partnership with regions on product launches, continuing education plans, sales representative certification and selling skills, including identification of needs, timelines, and budget to support launches.

Requirements:

  • MBA or applicable advanced degree preferred
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, science or health-related field
  • 5 years of experience managing training programs in the medical device industry, preferably in the neuromodulation space

  • 5 years of people management experience

  • 10 years of progressive experience to develop the competencies required to meet the skills and responsibilities of the position

  • Experience in medical device sales, sales leadership, as well as program/project management

Skills And Knowledge

  • Neuromodulation experience required

  • Experience with building and running training curriculums

  • Experience with Learning Management Systems

  • Knowledge of adult learning principles

  • Knowledge of instructional design a plus

  • Strong team player who can incorporate input from others and can generate consensus through inclusion

  • Strong cross-functional experience to drive and support organizational goals

  • Strong and creative thinker who is intellectually curious.

  • Ability to develop strong relationships with customers, clinical & sales partners

  • High degree of personal integrity

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills for a wide variety of audiences, including sales & marketing leadership

  • Experience with building and executing leadership development programs

  • Experience with KOL development

  • Experience with building sales and clinical rep development preceptorship programs

  • Experience with developing and managing global sales training programs

  • Medical Device Start-up experience and new product launches

Travel

  • Domestic and international travel up to 50%
