Harald Hofbauer

Harald Hofbauer has a diverse work experience spanning various research and academic positions. Harald is currently working as a Principal Scientist at Sandoz since November 2021. Prior to this, they served as a University Assistant - PostDoc at the University of Graz from December 2018 to July 2021, where they conducted investigations on lipid and energy metabolism using genetic mutants of the fruit fly, and explored the role of Brummer lipase during embryogenesis. During their time at the University of Graz, they also held the position of Erwin Schrödinger Postdoctoral Fellow from March 2018 to November 2018, focusing on investigating membrane-protein interactions using the lipid sensor protein Opi1 in baker's yeast and conducting research related to the biophysical properties of biological membranes in Parkinson's disease.

Before joining the University of Graz, Harald worked as an Erwin Schrödinger Postdoctoral Fellow at Goethe University Frankfurt/Main from December 2016 to February 2018, where they investigated membrane-protein interactions using the lipid sensor protein Opi1 and collaborated with a working group on molecular dynamics simulations. Prior to this, they served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Goethe University Frankfurt/Main from October 2014 to November 2016, focusing on similar research areas.

Harald also has experience as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Graz from November 2012 to September 2014, and as a Visiting Research Fellow at Cornell University in 2011 and 2009.

Harald Hofbauer obtained a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz, from 2008 to 2012. Prior to that, they completed their Magister/M.Sc. degree in the same field at the same university from 2002 to 2008. In addition to their formal education, they also obtained certifications in Bioequivalence and IVIVC from Symmetric Training in 2021 and Radiation Safety Training from Universität Graz in 2006.
