Richard Matens

Richard Matens joined Chumash Enterprises as Chief Health Officer in May 2021. In his role, Richard is responsible for the overall administration and management of the Santa Ynez Tribal Health Clinic’s health care delivery system, which includes establishing and maintaining standards and efficiency in all medical, financial, and operational areas. Richard has a strong background in health and human services, with considerable experience in long-term strategic planning, policy, and development, community engagement, and collaboration. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, and a master’s degree from the Notre Dame School of Theology in New Orleans.
