Chris Haase, Ph.D.

Chris Haase, Ph.D. has a long and varied work experience. In 2021, they began working as Investment Director at Aramco Ventures and as a Board Observer at Utility Global. In 2019, they began working as Technology Commercialization and Deployment Lead at Aramco. In 2018, they became the Director at the Critical Materials Institute, an Energy Innovation Hub, Ames Laboratory at Iowa State University. In 2017, they began working as Senior Director at GE Ventures. From 2008 to 2017, they worked at Shell Global Solutions International BV in various roles, including Principal Venture Planning and Implementation Advisor, Principal Business Advisor to CTO and EVP, Innovation R&D, and Manager External Research (Americas/Africa). From 2005 to 2008, they worked as Senior Analyst, Competitive Intelligence at BHP Billiton Petroleum. From 2001 to 2005, they worked as Associate Vice President, Ventures at BTG International Inc. From 1998 to 2001, they worked at Shell Technology Ventures in various roles, including Venture Manager and Petrophysicist. From 1996 to 1998, they worked as Senior Scientist at Glynn Scientific.

Chris Haase, Ph.D. obtained a BS in Mathematics from The Ohio State University between 1986 and 1990. Chris then obtained a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Chicago between 1990 and 1996. Afterwards, they obtained an MBA in Finance and Strategy from the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University between 1999 and 2000. In 2003, they completed Executive Education at Harvard Business School in Venture Capital and Private Equity. In 2009, they completed Executive Education at the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business in Open Innovation & Corporate Entrepreneurship. Additionally, they obtained certifications from FEMA Emergency Management Institute (IS-100, IS-200, IS-700A, IS-800B) in August of 2009 and an Extra Class Radio Operator certification from the Federal Communications Commission in May of 2007. Finally, they obtained a Professional Certificate in Strategic Decision and Risk Management from Stanford University between 2014 and 2016.
