Deniz Aydin

Senior Scientist, Computational Chemistry at Septerna

Deniz Aydin has a diverse background in computational chemistry and bioengineering. Their most recent role was as a Senior Scientist in Computational Chemistry at Septerna, starting in February 2023. Prior to that, they were a SNSF and EMBO Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Stanford University from September 2019 to January 2023. Deniz also worked as a Research and Teaching Assistant in Biotechnology and Bioengineering at EPFL from November 2014 to July 2019, where they led collaborative projects and studied the interplay between proteins. Additionally, they gained expertise in structure-based drug design and virtual screening techniques during their time as a Visiting Research Scholar at the University of California San Diego from January 2017 to August 2017. Deniz holds a Master's Degree in Chemical & Biological Engineering and worked as a Research and Teaching Assistant at Koç University from September 2012 to October 2014. Deniz has also gained research experience as an Undergraduate Researcher at Istanbul Technical University, an Intern at Diversey, and a Intern at Université de Nantes.

Deniz Aydin began their education at The Koç School, where they completed their elementary and high school education from 1998 to 2008. Deniz then pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Chemistry at Istanbul Technical University from 2008 to 2012. In 2011, Deniz participated in the Erasmus European Exchange Program at Nantes Université, studying Chemistry for a year. Deniz furthered their education by obtaining a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Koç University between 2012-2014. Finally, Deniz Aydin completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biotechnology and Bioengineering from EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) from 2014 to 2019.
