Nicolas Holzapfel

Director, UX at SigTech

Nicolas Holzapfel has over 15 years of work experience in UX design and management. Nicolas is currently working at SigTech as the Director of UX since January 2022. Prior to that, they held the position of Head of UX at the same company from December 2020 to January 2022.

Before joining SigTech, Nicolas worked at Improbable as the UX Lead from August 2019 to December 2020. Nicolas also served as a Product Manager from February 2019 to August 2019, Design Manager from May 2017 to February 2019, and UX Architect from February 2016 to April 2017.

From January 2015 to January 2016, Nicolas was the UX Director at Monitise Create, where they led a team of UX architects and experience designers. Nicolas played a pivotal role in the agency's growth following its acquisition by Monitise. Prior to that, they were the Head of UX from October 2013 to January 2015 and a UX Architect from October 2012 to September 2013 at the same company.

Nicolas started their career as a UX Designer at Webstars Ltd in September 2012. Nicolas worked as a Usability Consultant at Digital Distribution Networks (Bloom.fm) from June 2010 to March 2012, where they played a key role in the successful transition from the old product to a new mobile-focused music platform.

Nicolas also founded their own web application called Yoomoot from October 2008 to June 2010, which focused on making online discussions organized and quick to browse. Furthermore, they worked as a Usability Consultant at IPC Media in April 2010 and as a Designer at Luton Culture in March 2009.

In 2007, Nicolas collaborated with the NSPCC, the Wai Yin Chinese Women Society, and the Chinese in Britain Forum to design a bilingual Chinese/English information booklet. Nicolas also provided digital media expertise as a Designer & Developer for the Chinese Mental Health Association's project in 2006.

Throughout their career, Nicolas has demonstrated expertise in leading UX projects, conducting research, reviewing deliverables, mentoring team members, implementing improvements, and designing user-friendly interfaces.

Nicolas Holzapfel completed their education in a chronological order as follows:

From 2001 to 2004, they attended the University of York, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Politics & Sociology.

Following that, from 2005 to 2007, they enrolled at the University of the Arts London and obtained a Foundation degree (FdA) in Digital Media Production.

Lastly, in 2007 and 2008, Nicolas attended the University of the Arts London again and obtained a Master's degree (MA) in Interactive Media.

In addition to their formal education, Nicolas Holzapfel obtained a certification in Analyze Financial Data with Python from Codecademy in December 2021.
