Job description

We are seeking an experienced VP of Business Development - US Cyber Command to join our growing team. The Head of Business Development is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing growth strategies that align with our corporate goals. This role involves leading business development, growth operations, account-based customer management, supporting Division leaders in achieving their business objectives, and ensuring the effective execution of growth-related initiatives.

This role resides in our growth team and reports directly to SIXGEN’s Chief Operating Officer and will be a key peer to the Head of Marketing & Proposals, Head of Solutions, and Head of Products. The working location of this position is flexible. Due to the nature of this role, the ideal candidate needs to be comfortable traveling to one of our office locations in Annapolis or Hanover, MD and able to travel to customer and other meeting sites as needed.

Core Responsibilities:

Business Development

  • Develop and implement comprehensive business development and growth strategies to drive revenue and market expansion supporting US Cyber Command.
  • Collaborate with the COO and Division leaders to define growth and business development objectives and ensure alignment with overall corporate goals.
  • Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities, market trends, and emerging technologies within the cybersecurity domain within US Cyber Command. 

Growth Operations Management

  • Oversee the development and execution of growth operations plans, including pipeline management, market research, and competitive assessments. 
  • Ensure the optimization and maturity of Salesforce CRM and other growth tools to support operational excellence.
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for growth operations and business development, ensuring best practices and process efficiency.

Account-Based Management Leadership

  • Lead the development and implementation of account-based management strategies to enhance customer relationships and drive growth supporting US Cyber Command.
  • Clearly map account owners, portfolio managers, and their roles within the account management framework to drive effective coverage and growth.
  • Develop and manage a structure for account-based management that aligns with growth strategies and customer engagement goals.
  • Oversee the alignment of account-based management efforts with growth objectives, ensuring that account strategies are integrated with broader corporate growth plans.

Support for Division Leaders

  • Partner with Division leaders to identify business development opportunities and develop tailored strategies for each division.
  • Provide guidance and support to help divisions achieve their business goals, including market penetration, revenue growth, and customer acquisition.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration across divisions to ensure cohesive growth strategies and execution.

Capture Excellence and Advisory

  • Act as a strategic advisor on key capture initiatives, providing guidance on pre-RFP strategic actions and capture management.
  • Lead efforts to enhance capture processes, increase proposal win rates, and optimize resource allocation.
  • Ensure capture teams are effectively organized and focused on high-impact activities.

Reporting and Communication

  • Report directly to the COO on business development and growth operations activities, progress towards strategic goals, and key performance indicators.
  • Provide regular updates and insights to peers (Head of Marketing & Proposals, Head of Solutions, Head of Products) on growth initiatives and performance.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on market trends, growth opportunities, and operational effectiveness to senior leadership.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team within the business development function, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Drive talent development, performance management, and succession planning within the growth operations team.
  • Collaborate with HR to recruit, retain, and develop top talent for growth initiatives.

Required Skills & Experiences:

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in growth operations, business development, or a related field within the cybersecurity or technology sector. Proven track record of driving business development, growth, and achieving strategic objectives. 
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and managing complex growth initiatives. Experience in account-based management and customer relationship strategies is required.
  • Strong strategic planning and analytical skills with the ability to develop and execute comprehensive growth strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior executives and division leaders.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), market research methodologies, and competitive analysis tools.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
