Alex Howieson

Alex Howieson has extensive work experience in the field of people operations, human resources, and management consulting. They served as the Head of People Operations, Property, and Safety at Sky New Zealand, where they led a team in leveraging technology to empower employees and create optimal work environments. They also held roles as a Board Member at Debtfix | Debt Relief Foundation, a Non-Executive Director at New Zealand Water Polo, and an Independent Consultant. Prior to those positions, they served as the GM/Head of People (HR) at Kiwibank and worked in workforce planning and enhancement at Fonterra. They have also worked in senior management consulting roles at Fletcher Building, advising on workforce planning strategies and organizational restructuring, and at Qatar Airways and Air New Zealand, where they held senior human resources positions.

Alex Howieson obtained a Bachelor of Secondary Education in Humanities from the University of Sydney in the years 1993-1996. In 1996-1998, Alex pursued a Graduate Diploma in Human Resources Management and Services from TAFE Australia. Alex later earned a Graduate Certificate in Finance and Accounting from the University of Adelaide in 2010. In 2019-2020, Alex completed a Graduate Certificate in Commerce with a focus on Human Resource Management and Applied Business from Charles Sturt University. Alex additionally holds various certifications, including Te Reo Māori and Te Kaa from Maurea, obtained in 2023.
