Pedro Farinha

Pedro Farinha has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of DevOps engineering, data operations, and database administration. Pedro has worked in various companies and has a strong background in managing infrastructures, implementing CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and database administration.

Starting in 2013, Pedro worked as an Oracle Database Administrator at SONAE / Modelo Continente Hipermercados S.A., where they performed typical Oracle Database administration tasks. Pedro then joined Wipro in 2014 as a PL/SQL Developer, working on a project for SONAE to improve their end customer experience.

In 2014, Pedro also worked as a PL/SQL Developer at Logic Information Systems Brazil, where they developed PL/SQL, Shell scripts, Pro*C, and integration flows for C&A Latin America. Pedro then returned to SONAE / Modelo Continente Hipermercados S.A. as an SRE / Oracle Technical Infrastructure Administrator, managing the full infrastructure of Oracle Integration platforms.

In 2018, Pedro joined Oracle Retail as a Technical Consultant, where they participated in a large implementation project and was responsible for managing Oracle infrastructures and implementing a CI/CD pipeline. Pedro then worked at Prozis as a DevOps/DataOps/DBA, where they deployed new technologies, integrated the Databases and DevOps teams, and performed various database administration tasks.

Pedro joined Siemens in 2021 as a DevOps Engineer for Cybersecurity, where they achieved significant milestones such as developing a PoC for containerizing a vulnerability management platform and automating deployment with CI/CD pipelines. Pedro also documented processes for developer independence and assisted and mentored junior colleagues.

From 2022 to 2023, Pedro worked as a Part-time Freelance DevOps Engineer, providing freelance DevOps consulting services to various clients, developing a ChatOps platform for a startup, and working on a hardening project for a customer's infrastructure.

Currently, Pedro is working at Smartex.ai as the Head of DevOps Engineering, overseeing the DevOps engineering team and its operations.

Pedro Farinha's education history begins with their enrollment at the Universidade Portucalense (UPT) from 2005 to 2007, where they studied Computer Science for Management. Pedro then attended the Universidade do Minho from 2007 to 2011, where they pursued a Licenciatura degree in Tecnologias e Sistemas de Informacao (Technologies and Information Systems).

In terms of additional certifications, Pedro has obtained a wide range of qualifications. These include certifications such as Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) and Version Control with Git from Coursera, ScrumMaster: Características e Responsabilidades na Gestão de Projetos and Learning HashiCorp Vault from LinkedIn, and various certifications related to DevOps and AWS from Coursera. Pedro has also completed the Deploy a Web Application in Azure Kubernetes Service course from Coursera and received the Ansible Essential Training certification from LinkedIn.

Furthermore, Pedro has participated in several online courses through Coursera, covering topics such as Databases and SQL for Data Science, Python for Data Science and AI, Data Science Methodology, Tools for Data Science, and What is Data Science? Pedro has also obtained the Certificate in Advanced English from Cambridge University and the Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate certification from Oracle.

Most recently, Pedro obtained the Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®) certification from Scrum Alliance in February 2023.
