Nicholas Wright has gained diverse work experience in the field of data analysis and research. Nicholas started their career in 2014 as a Research Analyst at SMG - Service Management Group, where they worked with customer satisfaction survey data from clients in the retail and restaurant industry, providing insights to improve customer experience. Nicholas utilized statistical techniques and programs such as SPSS, R, and ArcGIS.

In 2015, Nicholas transitioned to the role of Business Intelligence Analyst at SMG, where they contributed to the creation of BrandGeek, a BI reporting tool that provided access to geospatial and survey data. Nicholas was responsible for statistical analysis in SPSS, R, and Python, as well as creating the UI/UX for client users.

Later, Nicholas took on the role of Senior Data Scientist at SMG in 2019, working in a small team to build out the company's data science and predictive analytics offerings. Nicholas leveraged customer experience data to develop and optimize algorithms and predictive models. Nicholas was proficient in using Python and various packages such as pandas, numpy, pytorch, sklearn, statsmodels, and shap. Nicholas also created a machine learning modeling approach for classifying low-frequency incidents in raw text comments.

Prior to joining SMG, Nicholas worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Connecticut from 2012 to 2013. Nicholas took the lead on a research project measuring consumer preferences for local goods and assessing the competitive advantage of small local producers. During this time, they developed survey design and advanced statistical modeling skills.
