Benjamin Wrigley

Principal, San Francisco at SOLOMON, CORDWELL, BUENZ & ASSOCIATES, INC

Ben Wrigley is a Principal at SCB, providing design leadership for the firm’s west coast urban residential and mixed-use practice. Ben joined SCB as project architect in the Chicago office 15 years ago, and in 2007, he moved to California to help start the firm’s San Francisco office. He was instrumental in the delivery of the firm’s first projects in the Bay Area, including One Rincon Hill and 360 Residences. In recent years, Ben has helped expand the firm’s reach to Hawaii as the lead designer of projects such as One Ala Moana and the award-winning Park Lane Ala Moana.

Ben’s design approach is rooted in the unique locality of each project and the experience of place. His design concepts are driven by gaining a deeper understanding of the historical context of site and city, along with an exploration of opportunities afforded by a building’s specific programmatic requirements. With an expertise in multi-family residential design, Ben is committed to producing beautiful, high-quality urban housing across all levels of affordability.

In his role as Studio Director, Ben has helped foster a design culture and work environment that is focused on creativity and collaboration, ensuring that all voices are heard during the design process. He believes that teaching and mentorship are key in advancing the design profession as a whole, as well as the continued success of the firm. He is an active member of the San Francisco Housing Action Coalition (SFHAC), a local advocacy group promoting responsible and affordable residential design, and serves as a guest critic at several local universities. A native Briton, Ben is a graduate of De Montfort University in Leicester.
