Mark Allen

Mark Allen has extensive work experience in the legal field, with a focus on privacy and data protection. Mark is currently working as the Head of Privacy-Deputy General Counsel at Sorenson Communications since October 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of Senior Director-Legal Privacy Lead Counsel at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - ALSAC from June 2021 to October 2023. Before that, Mark was the General Counsel and Secretary at United Way of the Mid South from October 2010 to February 2014. Mark also has experience as an Attorney at The Barnes Law Firm, Deputy County Attorney/Director of Litigation at Shelby County Attorney's Office, and Attorney at Youngdahl and Citti, PC. Mark has Partner-level experience at Provost Umphrey Law Firm and Allen Godwin Morris Laurenzi and Bloomfield, P.C. In their roles, they have provided legal counsel, handled privacy and data privacy matters, conducted internal investigations, and managed various legal issues.

Mark Allen has a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in Law from The University of Memphis—Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. Mark also holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Liberal Arts/Cultural Studies from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Additionally, Mark has obtained various certifications, including The Certified Information Privacy Professional - United States (CIPP/US) from the IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals. Mark is also licensed to practice law in the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the United States District Court of the Western District of Tennessee, the United States District Court of the Eastern District of Tennessee, and the Tennessee Supreme Court.
