Nikhil Sarma

Senior Scientist, Analytical Development at Spirovant

Nikhil Sarma has a diverse work experience spanning various scientific and research roles. Nikhil is currently employed as a Senior Scientist in Analytical Development at Spirovant Sciences, Inc. starting from March 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Krystal Biotech, Inc. where they held the position of Senior Research Associate from June 2020 to March 2022, and Research Associate from July 2019 to June 2020.

Before joining Krystal Biotech, Inc., Nikhil worked at Cradle Genomics as a Scientist from August 2018 to May 2019 and as a Research Associate from December 2017 to July 2018. Nikhil also gained research experience as a Research Assistant at Wayne State University School of Medicine from December 2017 to May 2019.

From January 2017 to May 2017, Nikhil worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at The University of Texas at Dallas. Nikhil also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant from June 2016 to May 2017, where they focused on studying the electrochemical properties of lung cancer cells and isolating cancerous cells from normal cells using Zeta potential measurements and Dielectrophoresis.

Furthermore, Nikhil worked as a Student Services Assistant from July 2015 to January 2017 and as an Orientation Peer from May 2015 to January 2017 at The University of Texas at Dallas. Nikhil was responsible for assisting and guiding students during the orientation process.

Nikhil has prior research experience as a Research Assistant Intern at UMass Medical School, where they focused on viral immunology and studied the role of heterologous immunity during infection with influenza A and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) from December 2015 to January 2016.

Nikhil also worked as a Research Student at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research from August 2013 to December 2014, investigating the role of different cell polarity genes in a developing zebrafish epidermis.

Nikhil started their research journey as a Research Project Assistant at the University of Pune from January 2013 to April 2014. During this time, they investigated the effects of salt solutions on tolerant and sensitive cultivars of rice.

Additionally, they gained research experience as a Project Intern at Tata Cancer Research Memorial Institute from June 2012 to August 2012, where they studied the role of Pentoxifylline as an anti-metastatic agent on human melanoma cell lines.

Lastly, Nikhil worked as a Student Research Assistant at the University of Pune from December 2010 to April 2011, where they isolated and studied different organisms from petrol and diesel-treated soil samples to assess degradation capabilities.

Overall, Nikhil Sarma has a strong background in scientific research and has held various positions in different organizations, showcasing their expertise in multiple areas of study.

Nikhil Sarma obtained a Master's degree in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology from The University of Texas at Dallas from 2015 to 2017. Prior to that, they received another Master's degree in Biotechnology from Pune University between 2011 and 2013. Nikhil completed their Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from the same university from 2008 to 2011. In addition to their formal education, they also earned a Mini MBA from Harvard GSAS Business Club in June 2022 and has a certification in National in-silico Drug Development workshop obtained in 2011 from Persistent Systems.
