Before their research position, Robin worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Rally Engineering from March 2014 to August 2020. In this role, they collaborated in team projects, performed pipe stress analysis, determined support requirements, calculated local stresses, and analyzed data for Enbridge pipelines.

Additionally, Robin was a Summer Research Student at Guenther Laboratory, University of Toronto in 2012, where they gained research experience. They also worked as a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Muskeg River Mine, Shell Albian Sands, Royal Dutch Shell in 2011, focusing on safety in piping isolation.

Lastly, they volunteered as a Summer Research Student at the University of Alberta in 2010, where they contributed to the investigation of gold nanoparticles for cancer treatment.

Robin (Lu Bin) L. completed a Master of Science (MS) degree in Data Science from Columbia University from 2020 to 2021. Prior to that, Robin received a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in Mechatronics, Energy, and Environment streams, from the University of Toronto between 2009 and 2013. Robin also completed the International Baccalaureate program at Old Scona Academic from 2006 to 2009.

In addition to their formal education, Robin has obtained several certifications. Robin completed the Deep Learning Specialization from DeepLearning.AI in August 2021. They also earned a certification in Python for Data Science and Machine Learning Bootcamp from Udemy in April 2020 and a certification in Complete Python Bootcamp: Go from zero to hero in Python 3 from Udemy in February 2020. Robin took a Machine Learning course from Stanford Online in August 2019. Furthermore, Robin holds a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) certification from The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), obtained in November 2018. Robin completed the DS101X: Statistical Thinking for Data Science and Analytics course from edX in August 2018.
