Balaji Santhanam

Balaji Santhanam is a Principal Computational Scientist and Bioinformatics Group Lead at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - ALSAC, where responsibilities include managing a subgroup of computational scientists and advising on research strategies. Previously, at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Balaji served as a Senior Investigator Scientist, making significant contributions to research in ubiquitin, GPCR, and transcription systems while fostering collaborations in various scientific fields. As a Research Scientist at New York University, Balaji led data-driven research in transcriptomics and network biology aimed at advancing sustainable energy production through algal genome engineering. Additional experience includes a Research Fellow position at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, focusing on biological interaction data for therapeutic development, and a Visiting Fellow role at the National Institutes of Health, contributing to the understanding of evolutionary dynamics in biological systems. Balaji holds a PhD in Computational Biology from the Indian Institute of Science and an MS in Physics from Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning.
