Melissa Smith

Melissa Smith has extensive experience in educational leadership, currently serving as the Director of Community Engagement and Dropout Prevention at Stanly County Schools since July 2003. In this role, Melissa functions as a liaison between the Superintendent and community organizations, overseeing the development, implementation, and monitoring of a Dropout Prevention program. Prior to this position, Melissa held various roles at Lee County Public Schools from October 1992 to June 2003, including Principal, Assistant Principal, and Teacher. Melissa is currently pursuing an Ed.D. in Educational Administration and Supervision at UNC Charlotte School of Professional Studies, expected to be completed in 2024.
