Shereefat Balogun has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Currently, they serve as the Assistant Commissioner at the State of Maryland's Office of the Commissioner of Financial Regulation, where they supervise licensed financial providers and provides policy and management support. Prior to this, they held the position of Chief Legal and Compliance Counsel at SECU Credit Union, where they led the legal and compliance functions and managed all legal and compliance matters. Shereefat also served as the Founder and Co-Host of the No Small Talk Podcast, aimed at helping introverts build meaningful connections. Additionally, Shereefat has worked as a Regulatory Compliance Counsel at the National Association of Federal Credit Unions, an Attorney Advisor at the Federal Housing Finance Agency, Office of Inspector General, and a Managing Attorney at McKinley Onua & Associates, LLC. Shereefat began their career as a Judicial Intern at the Honorable Marsha Steinhardt's State of New York, Supreme Court.
Shereefat Balogun has a diverse education history. Shereefat attended Brooklyn Technical High School from 1997 to 2001, where they obtained a Regents Diploma. Following high school, they pursued their undergraduate studies at the University at Buffalo from 2001 to 2004, earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Political Science and Government. Shereefat then continued their education at the University at Buffalo School of Law from 2006 to 2009, completing a Doctor of Law (JD) degree. Shereefat Balogun also holds an additional certification as an In-House Corporate Counsel Certified, which they obtained from the Association of Corporate Counsel in December 2020.
